Environmental Club for Teens

Environmental Club at the ROC

The mission of the Environmental Club at the ROC is to increase awareness of environmental issues, to highlight the immense value of environmentalism and sustainability, and to become better stewards of the environment, through education, advocacy, and the choices we make in our daily lives.

During club meetings, we will discuss current environmental issues, and what small or big adjustments we can make in our daily lives to live more sustainably and preserve, restore, and improve our environment. We will also discuss individual and group action that we can take to effect change to our society as a whole; organize and participate in special projects, events, and environmental activities and opportunities; and more.

Activities may include anything from organizing fund-raising silent discos and parties, clothing drives, recycling, fun field trips, beach clean-ups or trash pick-up, guest speakers, building bee hotels, developing board or video games that teach awareness, and much more —all ideas are welcome! This is a judgment-free zone, where the only requirement is a desire to learn more about protecting our planet.

While the club is primarily run by teens, with the assistance and guidance of Carolina Schneider, a responsible and knowledgeable teacher and parent.
