Skateboard & Scooter Class

Goal: With proper practice and correct form, students should be able to learn the basics of riding by the end of class. Depending on student experience level, we could introduce the ollie, or other skateboarding tricks.

Skateboarding is not simply “jumping on a board,” your board must be the right size for your feet, wheels and bearings and trucks make a difference whether you plan to ride on a sidewalk or skate on a ramp.

The class will cover Balancing on board,  Skateboard Stance, Pushing off, Riding, Balancing, Stopping the Skateboard (foot braking and heel dragging), Bailing, Carving/leaning, and more.  We will also thoroughly discuss safety, and getting the right equipment, and how getting the best doesn’t mean you have to spend the most money.

If you have equipment, please bring it to the class and I will evaluate it for you.  If you don’t have equipment, come anyway and I will make recommendations for what you need.

On days with inclement weather, we can continue our study indoors by watching skateboarding videos, and discussing skills.

This class is also offered in Spanish as a part of our The ROC’s LOTE Immersion Program.
