In this course students will learn how to identify healing plants and herbs that grow any and everywhere – parks and gardens, but also those that grow in cracks on the sidewalk. Stems, seeds, leaves and cells will be studied and examined under a powerful microscope. Endangered herbs, how to ethically harvest herbs in general, a variety of nutritional and medicinal herbs and how to use them will also be covered, as well as the history of herbal medicine across the world.
Each class will contain hands on activities, and projects that students will be able to create and take home with them. All of the herbs and products used will be organic and most will be fair trade certified.
